Qingyang is a Taoist temple built in the Tang Dynasty, and the oldest functioning Taoist temple in the Chengdu area. However, the majority of the structures now standing were built during the Qing Dynasty. According to legend, LaoZi (The founder of Taoism) asked a friend to meet him at a certain place. When the friend arrived he saw only a boy leading two goats on a leash. In an odd leap of lateral thinking, he came to the conclusion that the boy was LaoZi. The temple is suposed to have been built on that site. The
temple has a vegetarian restaurant that serves cheap, delicious dishes. |
